Who would benefit from RES-PECT training?
RES-PECT’S bold new approach is not only appropriate for mental health facilities but for the entire health care setting. Additionally, the RES-PECT philosophy, communications skills, and physical techniques will enhance public safety operations, educational facilities, government offices, the corporate world, and everyday life.
Is RES-PECT just another restraint program?
No. RES-PECT is the new kid on the block and utilizes unique restrictive movement techniques as opposed to the dangerous restraints of the past. This, coupled with RES-PECT’s verbal de-escalation and intervention skills provides a truly new and unique system for the 21st century.
Can RES-PECT keep our staff safe?
While we are new we are not naïve, and will be the first to tell you that we are not able to guarantee that all staff injuries will be eliminated. However, implementing the RES-PECT program can significantly reduce injuries to your staff because RES-PECT does not hold with the conventional approach that teaches restraint techniques. RES-PECT’s blend of verbal and cutting edge physical techniques eliminate the force-against-force aspects of a confrontation. This effectively reduces the staff’s exposure to harmful situations.
Our agency has a “hands-off” policy. Can we still benefit from the RES-PECT program?
Your agency will certainly benefit from the RES-PECT program because RES-PECT is primarily a hands-off program. Our emphasis is on developing channels of communication with the clients while using verbal de-escalation skills if the need arises. The innovative RES-PECT techniques are designed only to allow a threatened staff member to escape danger while keeping the client safe.
Our agency has a wide range of mental health clients, all the way from adolescents to elderly. Can RES-PECT accommodate this wide range of client need?
The RES-PECT program has pioneered a new approach to meeting client needs. RES-PECT integrates an understanding of client diagnoses, disorders, behaviors, and medications with methods of working with clients in a professional manner to meet client goals and provide high quality care. The RES-PECT approach is adaptable to a wide client base.
